MineKit and the early days of MineHost
At 18 I was spinning up VPS instances running Spigot for Minecraft servers, right in the heyday of Towny (the city-building multiplayer mode). We built small communities where everyone knew each other and just enjoyed hanging out. That’s where I picked up a lot of experience with Linux VPS —firewalls, ports, everything from the terminal on a headless Ubuntu box— plus Spigot mods and runtime optimization. It’s also where I contributed to the early days of MineHost, my friend Lucas’s company, which ran several servers.
Along the same lines, I built Java plugins (MineKit) for a friend’s Minecraft server.
